A twist on milk

World Plant Milk Day (August 22) celebrates dairy alternatives, such as soy, almond, oat and coconut milk. Lactose-free, nutritious, plant-based options can be found in Costco warehouses and at Costco.com.

Back story

Plant-based milk is created by grinding a bean or nut, then adding water, flavors, vitamins and minerals. Some people turn to plant-based milk due to an intolerance or allergy to cow’s milk, including lactose intolerance. Since no animal products are used to make them, dairy alternatives are also part of a vegan lifestyle. While many prefer plant milk for being low in fat, free of cholesterol and rich in calcium, others just like the taste. A (plant-based) milk moustache is just a bonus!
