Nuts about nuts

Thank you so much for your September cover story on where you get your [Kirkland Signature™] nuts. In the past, I had read several articles talking about child labor being used in some places for the processing of nuts. I know you have taken charge of assuring environmental and employee safety in other areas, and I was very happy to know I can enjoy my cashews and know that the people and the environment are being kept safe and well educated at the sources.

Respect for all members

In the current social climate, with tension mounting on so many fronts, your magazine gave me a reason to smile. Your September issue’s Costco Life section featured a Jewish New Year [Rosh Hashana] graphic, along with a brief description of the holiday; a photograph of apples and honey, which symbolizes the wish for a sweet new year; and the Hebrew greeting L’shana tova. Thank you, Costco Connection, for being inclusive and highlighting a significant Jewish celebration. It is appreciated now more than ever.

In praise of the Connection

I’ve got to hand it to you for the Costco Connection publication. It’s informative and well written. Knowing the thought that goes into the products you sell is appreciated. In the September issue, I discovered where your nuts come from, learned about Bordeaux terroir, was informed about the fuel additives you use in gasoline and read author notes. Oh my! Thanks for being diligent in your quest to find us consumers the best products.

More praise for September

Your September issue had me in tears, salivating and in awe. First, Marc Saltzman’s “Picture perfect,” about taking great photos with a mobile phone, made me laugh out loud. My family always teases me when I walk forward for a close-up photo. They keep reminding me that I can use the zoom on my phone. Marc’s advice on the subject vindicated me.

Then I turned to the pages with the recipes. The photos made me hungry and inspired me to give the recipes a try. Lastly, please compliment the magazine’s team of designers and photographers on one of the most beautiful issues you’ve ever published.
