Sensitive travel

I really enjoyed the May article “Fun for all: Vacationing with an anxious, inflexible or neurodiverse child.”

This was so educational for me. I had no idea so much travel preparation was needed for children with “invisible needs.” Thank you for sharing this and opening our eyes to be more knowledgeable and sympathetic.

Danielle Steel cover story

I just received the May Connection. As soon as I got it out of my mailbox and saw who was on the cover, I sat in my chair on my porch and had to read the article. Danielle Steel is my all-time favorite author. I have read most of her books. There is nothing better than a great beach day with a Danielle Steel book. Your article was so good and a surprise because she kind of stays to herself. Thank you for the awesome article. I enjoyed it more than you will ever know.

Aquatic therapy

I’m an aquatics instructor. So glad to find Jackie Duda’s article [“Wade a while,” May 2023] on the benefits of water for those in pain or with mobility issues.

There is a well-established Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program in most major cities across the U.S. Wherever patrons live, they can call their local arthritis organization and be directed to classes near them. Many people, including those with arthritis, Parkinson’s, etc., benefit from these programs.

Booking Amsterdam

I loved reading the article “Canals run through it” in your May issue.

There is a wonderful public library in Amsterdam called OBA Oosterdok—the second-largest public library in Europe. It has over 10 levels and a café with incredible views. The children’s library is a must-see with circular bookshelves. It was one of the highlights of our visit with our sons.

Stroke awareness

As a stroke victim/survivor, the article on strokes [“When strokes strike,” May 2023] was of great interest to me.

The acronym FAST has been expanded to BE FAST—the B is for Balance [loss of] and E is for Eyes [sudden changes in vision].
