5 Tips for a Fan-Tastic Tailgate

Tailgating season is upon us - are you ready to rep your team, rain or shine? If not, these five tips are just what you need to get in the zone.

And because we're all about bonus points, you can find everything you need to kick things off at Costco.com.

1. Take a Seat - or Two

When you're ready to serve your famous grilled creations, it will be nice to sit down and really enjoy it, during a commercial break of course. As a bonus, both benches stow under the table top for easy storage and transport.

Pro-Tip: Use the table to set up a taco bar or buffet. Then use the benches for your own version of stadium seating near the TV.

2. Stay hydrated

A narrow two-shelf bookcase placed in a trunk or truck bed and loaded with beverage items can transform either space into a fully stocked, makeshift bar.

Pro-Tip: Not too keen on playing bartender? Pre-made drinks can be poured into Ziploc baggies and kept on ice. Unzip the top just enough to fit a straw and voilà! - adult beverage bags. Just remember to appoint a designated driver.

3. Charcoal on the go

Using charcoal to grill adds a certain flavor that is hard to replicate but taking your charcoal grill with you to the game is nearly out of the question. When your signature dish requires the charcoal flavor bring this portable grill. You can set it up and safely move it during use.

Pro-Tip: Don't sacrifice an important play to food prep - make your burger patties and kebobs beforehand and so they are ready to grill when you are.

4. Don't underestimate the power of a muffin tin

Fill the divots with cups to create a no-spill serving tray. Use the indentations to keep condiments and toppings separated, or simply load them up with snacks to pass around.

Pro-Tip: Attach clothespins to the side of each paper plate so fans can fasten their utensils to their plates when they need both hands to cheer.

5. Game On

In between plays you can keep the competitive spirit going with this game. A bonus: You can play it in a small space, where there's no room to throw a long ball.

Pro-Tip: Bring along a white board or poster, and set up your own tournament bracket. Set up times for each heat and let people challenge their friends. Your spot will be hangout central in no time.
