The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. HPV can cause cervical cancer in women. The tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine (Tdap) prevents 3 diseases- tetanus (or lockjaw), diphtheria (a respiratory infection), and pertussis (whooping cough).
