One of the most eye catching and popular in the amaryllis family, Minerva is loved for its brilliant, cherry red blooms with a pure white star in the center and a luminous, lime green throat. Amaryllis bulbs are tropical plants and grow best in warm temperatures. If you are purchasing these raw bulbs after any seasonal frost is likely, they can be planted straight into the garden or into a planter to keep on your veranda for example. If there is any danger of frost, bring pot indoors. Plant bulbs in soil leaving the top half of the bulb exposed. Water bulbs sparingly but regularly. Growth will start to appear 4-5 weeks after purchase. These bulbs will grow at least two stems, producing multiple double red blooms per stem over the next 4-12 weeks. Trim withered blooms to promote further growth.
